  • The Funafuti Conservation Area is protected: no fishing or taking shells, and visits should be arranged with the conservation office or a licensed boat.

Etiquette

  • Dress modestly: cover shoulders and knees; swimwear only in the water.
  • Do not walk on the runway when a plane is due; sirens and fire trucks announce arrivals.
  • Sunday is for church and rest; keep activities quiet.
  • If invited to a fatele (dance gathering) in the maneapa (meeting house), follow your host.
