How to pick your dates
Start with the shape of the trip. If you want Monrovia plus Robertsport only, the coast is workable from November to April, with a possible drier break in late July–August. If you want Sapo National Park, East Nimba, Kpatawee or Harper, you need December to March: those are the months when laterite roads hold and operators run trips.
Then check the calendar. Christmas and New Year bring diaspora visitors to Monrovia, so book hotels early and expect medium prices. Independence Day on 26 July is a big national holiday with parades and parties, but it falls in the middle of the rains. Decoration Day in March and Thanksgiving on the first Thursday of November are low-impact holidays that mostly close offices.
Finally, decide what rain costs you. In the wet months Monrovia floods, ferries and road transfers slow down, and beach time is unreliable. Rain is not dangerous in itself, but it removes the reason most people come.

Notes and caveats
Rainfall figures for Monrovia are extreme even by West African standards, and the 'middle dries' spell in late July–August does not arrive every year. Treat it as a bonus, not a plan.
Harmattan dust from the Sahara can reduce visibility and dry the air in January and February; it is usually mild in Liberia compared with the Sahel.
Public holidays close offices and some shops but rarely stop beach or surf businesses. Independence Day is the exception: Monrovia is busy and some services pause.
