Most first trips are Prague and nothing else, and Prague's centre is small and crowded. What breaks trips is exchange-booth rates, taxis hailed on the street and trying to see Bohemia by day trips alone. Sleep in Prague, change money only at banks or ATMs, and give Moravia its own nights if you are heading on to Vienna or Bratislava.

Safety

  • Pickpockets work the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, tram 22 and the metro.
  • Use ride-hailing apps or booked taxis; street taxis in the centre may overcharge.
  • Validate public transport tickets when you board or enter the metro; inspectors fine on the spot.

Prague is linked by train to Berlin, Vienna and Kraków; Brno is on the line to Vienna and Bratislava.
