The Calgary Region is a ring of small towns 20–60 minutes from downtown Calgary. Hotels are cheaper and more plentiful in the city, and every town on this list is reachable as a half-day or full-day drive. Base in Calgary, rent a car for two or three of those days, and use the region's towns for food stops, museums and foothills access rather than as overnight bases.
