The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory with their own entry rules and very strict firearms laws. Nearly all visitors stay on Providenciales, which is flat, spread out and built around Grace Bay; the other islands are much quieter and reached by ferry or small plane. Rent a car on Provo if you want to explore, and treat hurricane season (June–November) as the main planning constraint.

Safety

  • Traffic drives on the left, and many cars are left-hand drive: take care at roundabouts.
  • Crime, including burglary and some violent crime, has risen on Providenciales: lock villas and do not walk isolated areas at night.
  • Sun and sea: the sun is strong all year; watch for currents and rip tides on unpatrolled beaches, and swim where locals swim.
  • Hurricane season (Jun–Nov): follow local warnings and your airline; if a storm is forecast, leave early or shelter where your accommodation tells you.
