Stanley is a one-street harbour town of about 2,500 people: two nights are enough for the town, and the real plan is which day trip and which outer-island flight you can get in the weather.

The honest verdict

Stanley fits in a day on foot, so the trips that go wrong are about access, not sights: a 55 km road transfer from Mount Pleasant that has to be booked, a small-plane seat to the outer islands that depends on wind, and a Volunteer Point 4x4 day that the tour operator decides on the morning. Four small areas cover the town; keep one bed and treat everything else as a day trip from it.
