The Sea of Galilee (Yam Kinneret) is Israel's largest freshwater lake and the core of the Gospel geography: Capernaum, Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes sit within about 12 km of each other on the northwest shore. Tiberias is the transport hub — nearly every regional bus passes through it — and holds most beds. A car makes the full loop easy; without one, bus 59 north from Tiberias reaches the churches, and the rest of the shore is slow. Two nights covers the Christian sites and a swim; three lets you add Arbel, Hamat Gader or a Golan day.
