Kiambu is a highland county 14 km north of Nairobi, not a standalone destination. Its draw is cool air, tea and coffee estates, waterfalls and caves, all reachable as day trips. Stay in Nairobi or Ruaka and treat Kiambu as a 1–2 day add-on to a Kenya trip.

Getting around
Ride-hailing (Uber, Bolt, Little) works in Kiambu Town, Ruaka and Thika but wait times run longer than in Nairobi. Matatus (Route 100 from Nairobi CBD to Kiambu Town, about Ksh 50–100) are cheap and frequent but crowded. Boda-bodas reach estate and waterfall tracks; agree the fare and take the helmet. A hired car is the only practical way to link several rural sights in one day.
