Kazincbarcika is a Socialist-era chemical town in the Sajó valley, built around the BorsodChem works, 20 km from Miskolc. It has no landmark that justifies a trip on its own; the draw is the surrounding villages — Rudabánya's 10-million-year-old hominid sites, mansions at Bánhorváti and Kurityán, and the Bükk foothills. Treat it as a half-day or a rail stop, not a destination.
