Pingyang is a county on Zhejiang's southern coast, part of Wenzhou prefecture and about 45 km from Wenzhou city. Its two towns, Kunyang and Aojiang, are ordinary Chinese county seats with a museum, a lake park and a Ming-Qing gate. The reason to come is outside them: the Nanji Islands in the East China Sea and South Yandang Mountain inland. Both need a full day and a transfer, so Pingyang works as a one-night stop on the Wenzhou–Fuzhou rail line rather than a destination in itself.

Getting around
Aojiang and Kunyang are 10 minutes apart by bus or taxi. City buses start at ¥2 and rarely exceed ¥5. Taxis start at ¥10 for 3 km, ¥2.5 per km, with a 20% night surcharge from 22:00 to 05:00. Didi and Caocao are the usual ride-hailing apps. Public bikes cost about ¥2 per 10 minutes. For South Yandang and Shunxi the bus network is thin: drive, charter or take a taxi.
