Yuli玉里
Stay 1 night (2 if hiking Walami): base near Yuli station, rent a scooter or bike, and go at opening for Chike Mountain in bloom.
Yuli sits in the Huatung Valley between Hualien and Taitung, flanked by mountains and mostly farmland. It is a rail stop, a noodle town and the trailhead for the Walami historic trail. Sights are spread out, so a scooter or bicycle decides your day.

Safety
- Typhoons and heavy rain can close trails and mountain roads; check conditions before Chike Mountain or Walami.
- Walami trail beyond the first section needs a permit and police registration — apply in time.
- The road up Chike Mountain is narrow; drive or ride it in daylight only.
