The North Coast runs about 600 km of Pacific shoreline from the Bay Area to Oregon, and it is a driving region: towns are 45–120 minutes apart and public transport between them is thin. Pick one or two bases — Eureka/Arcata for redwoods and Humboldt Bay, Fort Bragg or Mendocino for the southern coast and wine — and do the rest as day loops on US-101 and CA-1. Two nights is a rushed taste; four to five nights lets you see Redwood National and State Parks without a single long transfer day.
