Romantic things to do in Nairobi

Nairobi rewards couples who plan the evening around one or two stops rather than a long list. The city's best romantic moments are a sunset over the national park, a quiet table in Karen or Westlands, and a rooftop drink with the skyline in front of you.

Book the big items — park entry, a table, a spa slot — a day or two ahead, especially at weekends. Then let the evening breathe.

For the national park, enter by the main gate on Langata Road. For Lake Naivasha, drive or join a tour; the road via Limuru takes about two hours.

Dress in layers: evenings at 1,700 m can be cool, and rain arrives quickly in the wet months. Keep phones and wallets out of sight in traffic, and use a car after dark rather than walking.

January and February are warm and dry, and June to October is cool and dry — both good for outdoor evenings. The long rains fall March to May and the short rains November to December; expect afternoon downpours and plan indoor backups.
