The Front Range is Colorado's eastern foothill strip: a string of cities along I-25 (Fort Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Boulder, Denver) backed by the mountains that give the region its name. Most visitors sleep in one city and drive up into the foothills and Rocky Mountain National Park. The mountains sit 30–90 minutes west of the urban corridor, so a car turns a single base into a full trip. Winter closes high passes and the park's Trail Ridge Road; summer fills park lots before 9am.
