Çerkezköy is the nucleus of a fast-growing industrial conurbation in the Thracian plain, 110 km west of Istanbul and about 10 km from the edge of Istanbul's metropolitan boundary. Its Ottoman past was destroyed in the Balkan Wars and built over by factories and apartment blocks, so there is nothing here a normal trip needs to see. It does have hotels, supermarkets and a main-line railway station, which makes it useful for a night if you are working here or catching an early train west.

Getting around
The centre is one walkable strip along Atatürk Cd (Gazi Osman Paşa). Dolmuşes link the centre with the outlying townships, but the wider conurbation is spread out and effectively needs a car or taxi. The railway station is about 2 km east of the centre; the bus station is on the south edge of the centre.
