Country rules
- Aruba sets its own entry rules as part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; check the official Aruba government sources for your passport, including any online embarkation card before you fly.
- Arikok National Park covers much of the north-east; some tracks need a high-clearance or 4x4 vehicle, so check before driving a standard rental car in.
Etiquette
- Beachwear is for the beach: cover up in shops, restaurants and Oranjestad.
- Papiamento and Dutch are the official languages; English and Spanish are widely spoken, and a greeting in Papiamento ('bon dia') is appreciated.
- Tipping: check whether a service charge is already on the bill before adding more.

Safety
- Traffic drives on the right; roundabouts are common and rural roads are unlit at night.
- Wind and sun: the trade wind hides how strong the sun is; use shade and high-factor sunscreen.
- North coast: the windward sea is rough and dangerous for swimming; swim on the west and south coasts.
- Do not leave valuables in parked cars at beaches and viewpoints.
Aruba pairs with Curaçao and Bonaire (the ABC islands) by short regional flights; there is no scheduled passenger ferry between them.
