One day in Victoria Falls
Start at the national park gate when it opens, around 06:00–07:00 in the dry season. The rainforest path runs along the gorge rim with viewpoints facing the falls; in high water (roughly February to May) the spray soaks you, so wear a rain jacket and bag your phone. In the dry season (September to November) the flow is lower but the views are clearer and rainbows form in the morning light.
Walk the full loop, then continue to the Victoria Falls Bridge on the Zambian side of the border post for the classic view back at the falls and the bungee platform. The bridge is a border crossing point, so carry your passport even if you only walk onto it.
Spend the late afternoon on a Zambezi sunset cruise from the jetty above the falls, or at the Big Tree and the riverfront for a cheaper version of the same view. Eat in town and turn in early; the town is small and everything is within a short walk or taxi ride.

Two days in Victoria Falls
Day one is the falls and the bridge as above. Day two is the activity day, and the choice depends on what you came for.
For wildlife without leaving the area, take a game drive in Zambezi National Park, which starts minutes from town and works well in the dry season. For a bigger game day, cross to Chobe National Park in Botswana via the Kazungula border; this is a full day with an early start and a river cruise in the afternoon. For adrenaline, the bridge offers bungee and gorge swings, and the Zambezi has rafting when water levels allow.
If you would rather see the falls from the other side, cross to Livingstone on the Zambian side for the day. The KAZA UNIVISA covers this and the Chobe trip, which is why it is worth buying on arrival if either is on your list.

Three days in Victoria Falls
Three days lets you keep the falls day unhurried and still fit in a safari. The most common shape is falls on day one, an activity on day two, and Hwange National Park on day three, either as a long day trip or as the start of a longer stay in the park.
Hwange is Zimbabwe's largest park and its pumped waterholes draw elephants in the dry season, roughly July to October. A day trip means a very early start and a lot of driving; many travellers instead move to a Hwange camp for two or three nights, which is the pattern the country guide recommends for a first trip.
If you are not adding a safari, use day three for the Zambian side, a canoe trip on the Zambezi, or a slower morning at the falls followed by the craft market and the bridge. Do not try to fit Hwange and Chobe into the same three days; both are full days and the borders eat time.

Practical tips
Book the falls day first and build activities around it. High water (roughly February to May) means heavy spray and a rain jacket; low water (September to November) means clearer views and easier photography. Either way, go early: the light is better and the paths are quieter.
The town is compact and walkable, but activities and the airport need a vehicle. Agree the price before you get in a taxi, and use your lodge's transfer if you have an early start. Carry small US dollar notes and some local currency for tips and market purchases.
