Southeastern Kansas is a drive-through region of small towns between the Flint Hills and the Oklahoma line: Coffeyville's Dalton Gang history, Chanute's two museums, Independence's Little House on the Prairie site, and Big Hill Lake near Cherryvale. Driving is the practical way to get around; the region's airports are general aviation only. Two nights from Wichita or Tulsa is enough; three if you add Iola.
