South Central Arizona is Tucson plus a ring of small desert towns 30–90 minutes out: Sonoita and Patagonia wine country, Tubac's art and mission history, Nogales on the Mexico line, and observatories on the mountain tops. There is no useful public transport, so a car decides everything. Sleep in Tucson, drive out by day, and keep one night free for a mountain or a border town if you want it.
