Give Wonju one night only if you want Chiaksan hiking or the Sogeum Mountain suspension bridge; otherwise skip it and stay in Seoul or Chuncheon.
Wonju is a mid-size Gangwon city about 1 h 45 min from Seoul by bus, on the KTX line toward Pyeongchang and Gangneung. It is a transport junction and a hiking base rather than a sightseeing city: Chiaksan National Park, the Sogeum Mountain suspension bridge and a handful of temples and museums carry a single overnight. Most travellers pass through on the way east.
