Jecheon is a small inland city in North Chungcheong, ringed by the Taebaek and Sobaek ranges and sitting on Cheongpung Lake, a flooded valley of drowned hills and relocated pavilions. It is a rail junction — KTX-Ieum, ITX and Mugunghwa trains all stop here — so it works as a one- or two-night base for lake viewpoints, Uirimji reservoir and Woraksan National Park, not as a city break.

- July and August bring heavy rain and landslide risk on mountain trails; check park notices before hiking.
- The Cheongpung Lake monorail closes Mondays and shuts for winter in December–February.
