Yuanmou County in central Yunnan is a small rural hub reachable by bus or slow train from Kunming. Its main attractions – the striking Earth Forest and the Yuanmou Man Museum – are close to the town centre and can be visited in a half‑day each. With limited accommodation and no fast rail, a single day is enough for most travellers; add a night only if you prefer a relaxed pace or have late‑night connections.
