One night; choose Saturday if you want Sunday plaza life. Without a car, treat Zamora as a stop between Guadalajara and Morelia, not a base.
Zamora is a working agricultural city of about 155,000 in the Tziróndaro Valley, known across Mexico for strawberries, dairy and the milk sweet chongos zamoranos. Its draw is a big colonial plaza, Mexico's tallest cathedral, and a Sunday market-and-food scene rather than a sight list. Two nights is the ceiling; most travellers pass through on the Guadalajara–Morelia corridor.

The centre is walkable: plaza, cathedral, Federal Palace and Mercado Morelos sit within about 15 minutes on foot. For anything else use taxis or ride-hailing; there is no metro or useful city rail. Lago de Camécuaro, 14 km east on MEX-15, needs a taxi, a tour or a car.

- The Zamora airfield has no scheduled commercial flights: fly into Guadalajara or Morelia and continue by road.
- Toll road MEX-15D is the safer, faster drive; the free MEX-15 adds roughly an hour.
