Lindos is a whitewashed village of about 800 people on Rhodes' east coast, built under a rock with a Dorian acropolis on top and two sandy bays below. It is pedestrianised, so you park or arrive by bus outside and walk in. Two nights is enough: one for the acropolis and village, one for the beaches and St Paul's Bay. In July and August the lanes and the climb fill up by mid-morning, so the timing of your day matters more than the length of your stay.

Getting around
On foot only inside the village: the lanes are pedestrianised and stepped, so a stroller or wheeled case is hard work. The acropolis climb is a steep 10–15 min on uneven stone with no handrails; a donkey ride up costs about €6. Buses run along the coast to Rhodes city and nearby resorts; a car helps for beaches and day trips but must be parked outside the centre.

- Coach groups arrive mid-morning and leave around midday: go up at opening.
- Blue-marked parking spaces near the centre are paid; free spaces are further out.
