Belek is a purpose-built resort strip about 40 km east of Antalya: a dozen golf courses, big all-inclusive hotels and sandy beaches, with almost no town life between them. It works as a fly-and-flop or golf week, not as a sightseeing base. Independent travellers use it for two or three nights to see Aspendos and Perge, then move on to Antalya or Side.

Getting around

Hotels run shuttles to their golf courses and the theme park; otherwise you need a car or taxi. Bus BA22 links Antalya Meydan, Belek town and Boğazkent every 20 min from 06:20 to 21:30, but it runs along Turizm Cd about 1 km inland from the beach hotels. You need the Antalyakart card for city buses. Long-distance buses to Manavgat and Alanya stay on the D400 inland and do not enter Belek; get off at Serik and take a taxi or dolmuş.

Well-preserved Graeco-Roman city with a large theatre; go at opening. The wonky Aspendos bridge is on the way.

Roman city ruins; pair with Aspendos in one half-day by car.

Sidego

Car or taxi to Serik, then bus on the D400; or a direct taxi

Watch out

Safety

Resort areas are calm and well-policed; the real risks are summer heat, sea currents on windy days and overpriced town-centre shops. Use 112 for anything urgent.
  • The resort strip is designed to keep you inside: no promenade, no harbour, no free-standing restaurants or bars on the beach.
  • Belek town centre is modern retail selling overpriced tat; don't build a trip around it.
  • Long-distance buses don't come into Belek: plan the Serik taxi or dolmuş leg.
  • July and August heat plus full resorts: book golf tee times and theme-park tickets ahead.
  • Some resort facilities close outside high season: confirm what is open before booking.
