Half a day for Xibaipo and the glass bridge at Hongya Valley; one night if you want the hot springs. Not a base for exploring Hebei.
Pingshan County, 50 km northwest of Shijiazhuang, draws day-trippers to the Xibaipo Memorial Museum (free, reserved online) and the Hongya Valley resort with the world's longest glass bridge. Hot springs at White Deer add an overnight option. The county has little else for foreign tourists.
