Stay 2 nights if you want beach plus night market; 1 night is enough if you are here only for the sand and move on to George Town.
Batu Ferringhi is Penang's resort strip: a long, developed beach on the north coast with a nightly market, watersports and a row of hotels from RM 90 guesthouses to RM 500+ resorts. The sand is fine but the water is murky and jellyfish appear at times. Treat it as a beach base for 1–2 nights, then move to George Town for food and heritage.

Watch out
Safety
- Jellyfish in the water at times: vinegar on a sting, and see a doctor if you get chest pain.
- Water quality is poor near the busiest watersports stretch.
- Taxis often refuse the meter; fix the price before you get in.
- The night market starts high and expects haggling.
- Afternoon storms in the wet months can cancel watersports.
