Kamen Bryag is a 57-person village on limestone cliffs, 17 km north-east of Kavarna and 8 km from Shabla. People come for the Yailata reserve, deep-water solo climbing, the July Morning gathering on 30 June–1 July, and cheap rooms in private houses. There is almost no public transport, so a car or a long walk decides your trip.

Getting around

On foot or by bike. The centre to the beach is a 15–20 min walk; Tyulenovo and Sveti Nikola are about 5 km, Rusalka about 8 km. The only public transport is the van to Kavarna, 18 km away, at 07:05 and 15:45 (check times locally).

Watch out

Safety

Violent crime is not the issue; the cliffs are. Keep back from the edge, do not walk the cliff path at night, and carry cash since there is no ATM in the village.
  • Vertical cliffs with no barriers: keep well back from the edge, especially at night and after rain.
  • No cash machine and no pharmacy in the village; bring cash and supplies from Kavarna or Shabla.
  • The bus to Kavarna runs only twice a day — missing it means a taxi or a 18 km walk.
  • The abandoned lookout tower ladders are unmaintained; climb at your own risk.
