Ciudad Tula is a small colonial town in southern Tamaulipas, founded in 1617 and one of Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos. It is a plaza-and-church stop with one archaeological site nearby, not a multi-day base. Most travellers see it in a single night between Ciudad Victoria and the Huasteca, or as a long day trip by car.

Getting around
The centre is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end. Tammapul is about 8 km southeast of town: you need a car or a taxi, and there is no regular public transport. Buses between Ciudad Victoria and Tula run roughly hourly from 07:00 to 19:00 and take about 2 h.
