The old town, the castle and the wooden bridge fit into a half day on foot; the rest of the town's value is the lake, the boat pier and the Voralpen-Express, which starts its scenic run here. The centre is compact and walkable in 15 minutes end to end. Buses cover Jona and the outskirts; the station is on Untere Bahnhofstrasse. Bikes and e-bikes can be rented in town. Boats of the Lake Zurich navigation company (ZSG) call at the harbour, with a reduced winter timetable.

Very safe. The real risks are slippery boardwalk planks on the wooden bridge in rain, fast cyclists on the lakefront path, and swimming in the lake where no lifeguard is posted.
