Saint-Justin is a farming and forestry parish in the Maskinongé Region, about 104 km northeast of Montréal. There is no lodging in the village, so it works as a half-day detour for maple shacks, the autumn harvest festival and quiet country roads, with Louiseville or Maskinongé as your bed. VIA Rail stops 5 km north, but only one day a week per route, so treat the train as a bonus, not a plan.

Getting around

You need a car: the village sits at the junction of route Gérin and rue Duchesnay, and sights are spread along country roads. An EV charging point is outside the town hall at 1281 route Gérin. VIA Rail's Saint-Justin station is 5 km north on Chemin du CN, served one day a week on the Jonquière–Montréal and Senneterre–Montréal wilderness routes, both request-stop services.

Very safe rural area; the real risks are winter driving on country roads, wildlife at dusk and long gaps between services. Fill up and carry water before heading out.
