Paravur
Paravur is a half-day stop for calm backwaters and a quiet beach, not a base: skip unless you want a break from the Kerala tourist trail.
Paravur is a small municipal town in Kollam district, Kerala, with a population of about 44,000 (2011). It was once a busy commerce hub but has a forgotten, serene feel. The main draw is the mile-long seafront where a shallow lagoon meets the sea, ideal for a quiet walk, a bike ride, or watching local anglers. Most travellers use it as a short stop between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
