Getting around

CATA buses cover downtown, East Lansing and the airport; route 1 along Michigan/Grand River Avenue is the useful spine and runs late Thursday–Saturday. Taxis and rideshare are thin outside downtown East Lansing — allow 30 minutes. A car makes the region easy: I-96, I-496, I-69 and US-127 meet here.

Lansing is a normal US mid-size capital: the centre is fine by day, use usual care at night and lock your car. Winter driving is the bigger risk — snow, ice and deer on rural roads.
