Kortrijk is a medium-sized West Flanders city on the Leie, about 30 minutes by train from Ghent and 40 minutes from Lille. Its compact centre has a UNESCO-listed belfry and beguinage, the Broeltorens and museums on local history and flax. Most visitors can see the central sights in half a day; stay one night to slow the pace or catch an evening event.
