Roeselare
Give Roeselare one night at most: the belfry, St Michael's tower and the KOERS cycling museum fill a half-day, and it works best as a rail stop between Bruges and Kortrijk.

Rules in force · 8Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
- Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
- Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
- Benelux ↗Dutch and Belgian police can ask anyone to show identification (in the Netherlands from age 14): carry the original passport or EU ID card — a photocopy is not accepted.
- Benelux ↗Tap-in fares, Dutch and Belgian domestic tickets and Luxembourg's free transport all stop at the border: buy an international ticket for cross-border legs, or you will be fined on board.
- Belgium ↗Belgium is in the EU and the Schengen area; the EU Entry/Exit System applies to non-EU visitors. Check the official EU and Belgian sources for your passport.
- Belgium ↗Cities have different names in Dutch and French (Antwerpen/Anvers, Gent/Gand, Brugge/Bruges, Luik/Liège); check both on tickets and signs.
- Belgium ↗Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent have low-emission zones; if you drive, check that the car is registered or allowed before entering.
- Belgium ↗Belgian unions call national action days that stop trains, trams and flights; check SNCB and your airline two days before any travel day.
Roeselare is a working West Flanders town, not a postcard: its draw is the UNESCO belfry on the Grote Markt, the 65 m St Michael's tower you can climb, the KOERS cycling museum and the Rodenbach brewery on the edge of town. Trains run at least hourly to Bruges (30 min) and Kortrijk (20 min), so most travellers see it in half a day and sleep in Bruges or Ghent.

Watch out
Safety
- Shops close on Sundays; many restaurants shut one weekday, often Monday or Tuesday.
- St Michael's tower is only climbable when the church is open: check before you plan the 256 steps.
- Rodenbach and other brewery visits need a booked slot: check the official site.
- Late-evening trains to Bruges and Kortrijk thin out; check the last departure before a night out.

- Best months: Apr–Jun, Sep–Oct · avoid Nov–Feb (grey and wet), school holidays for hotel prices · month by month →
- 3 airports and 3 areas to sleep in
- Weather: a 7-day forecast and monthly averages
- Cost per day in 3 bands
- 6 day-trips, door to door
- 4 things to watch out for, with emergency numbers
Coming as the guide grows
- Airport-to-bed contract for BRU and CRL: last train times field-checked, taxi fallback, overnight rung.
- Three walking clusters with rescue anchors: station and Stationsplein, Grote Markt and belfry, KOERS and the Rodenbach side of town.
- Place pages with verified opening hours (belfry, St Michael's tower, KOERS, MUZE'UM L, Eperon d'Or) and eat pages with last orders.
- Rain-day fixtures for the ARhus library and the KOERS museum so a wet half-day still works.
