Frederikshavn is a Kattegat port and the practical gateway to Skagen and to ferries for Gothenburg and Oslo. The town itself is small: a pedestrian street, a harbour, a handful of wartime and maritime museums, and a free loan-bike scheme that makes the spread-out sights easy. Most travellers pass through in a night or use it as a day stop on the way north.
