Fjerritslev is a 3,300-person town in Han Herred, the strip between the North Sea and the Limfjord, roughly halfway between Thisted and Aalborg. It is not a sight-heavy town: the draw is the surrounding nature (Bulbjerg cliff, Vejlerne wetlands, the North Sea beaches) and Viking-era Aggersborg. Buses are thin and stop in school holidays, so a car or bike changes what you can do here.

Getting around

The town itself is walkable on two legs. For anything else — Bulbjerg, Vejlerne, Aggersborg, the coast — you need a car or a bicycle. Local buses are limited and do not run on school holidays, which overlap with peak summer tourism.

Very safe. The real risks are rural roads with no lighting, eroding cliffs at Bulbjerg, and getting stranded when the limited buses stop running.
  • Local buses do not run during school holidays, which coincide with peak tourist season.
  • Bulbjerg's limestone cliff is eroding: stay back from the edge.
  • Lystanlægget park gets muddy after heavy rain.
