Ronda sits on a 100 m limestone gorge in Málaga province, split into the old Moorish La Ciudad and the newer Mercadillo by the 1793 Puente Nuevo. It is small enough to walk end to end in 25 minutes, which is why most visitors see it in a day — and why one night, after the day-trippers leave, is the better call. It also works as a base for the white villages and the Sierra de Grazalema.

Getting around
Walk. Everything in the centre is within 20–25 minutes on foot, but the streets are steep and cobbled, so wear shoes with grip. Park in the Mercadillo (underground garage under Plaza del Socorro, or Avenida Poeta Rilke) and leave the car there — parts of the old town are closed to non-resident traffic. Taxis cover the station run for about €7.
