Helena is Montana's capital and a gold-rush town: a pedestrian main street, a mansion district, a copper-domed Capitol and 120 km of in-town trails. It is small (about 32,000 people) and most sights sit within a 20-minute walk or a short drive. One night covers it; two if you add Gates of the Mountains or a Mount Helena hike.
