KulobКӯлоб
Half a day to see the mausoleum and memorial, then move on: Kulob is a stop on a Khatlon tour, not a base.
Kulob, Tajikistan's third-largest city, is a quiet regional centre in Khatlon. Its main draw is the 14th-century Mausoleum of Mir Said Ali Khamadoni and the 2700th Anniversary Memorial. Most travellers use it as a lunch stop between Dushanbe and the Pamirs or as a short detour from Qurghonteppa.

- Central Asia ↗Keep every hotel registration slip or its e-registration record until you leave Uzbekistan and Tajikistan; border officers can ask for proof of where you slept and fine gaps.
- Central Asia ↗Land borders between Central Asian states open and shut with politics and demarcation deals; confirm the exact post is open to foreigners the week you cross.
- Tajikistan ↗Check entry rules on the official e-visa portal only; many nationalities need an e-visa, and the Gorno-Badakhshan (Pamir) region needs an extra permit.
- Tajikistan ↗Carry Tajik somoni in small notes; markets, taxis and tea houses are cash-first, and cards work mainly in hotels and larger shops in Dushanbe.
- Tajikistan ↗Land borders, including those with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, have been closed or restricted at times: confirm the current status before you plan an overland leg.
