JR trains link Kokura, Moji and Yahata and are the easiest way around; the Kagoshima line runs three trains an hour to Mojiko (about 40 min, ¥340 each way, check). Nishitetsu buses cover the rest and take Suica, PASMO and Sugoca smartcards. The Kitakyushu Monorail runs every ten minutes from Kokura station to Kikugaoka but gives no transfer discount. Kokura station, Mojiko and Yahata are walkable on foot.
