- East Asia ↗Every border in East Asia is a full international border, Hong Kong and Macau included: an entry permission for one never covers the next.
- East Asia ↗Ferries between Korea, Japan and China cancel in rough seas and typhoons; keep a flight or a spare day behind every sea leg.
- South Korea ↗Check K-ETA and visa status on the official sites before you fly; the list of nationalities exempted from registering online changes year by year.
- South Korea ↗Google Maps gives poor walking and driving directions in Korea; use Naver Map or Kakao Map for routes.
- South Korea ↗Buy a T-money card (or use a phone-based transit pass) for subway and buses; it also pays at convenience stores and many taxis.
Anyang is a satellite city of Seoul in southern Gyeonggi Province, on Seoul Subway Line 1 and Line 4. It grew as an industrial city and now runs on services and education, with Pyeongchon New Town holding one of the province's densest clusters of private academies. There is no old town to wander: the draw is Anyang Art Park, a forested hill with outdoor sculpture, plus two museums and a stream-side ecology hall. Most travellers pass through on the way to Suwon, Ansan or Seoul.

Getting around
Two subway lines cross the city: Line 1 runs through Seoksu, Gwanak, Anyang and Myeonghak; Line 4 through Indeokwon, Pyeongchon and Beomgye. Fares are distance-based and a T-money card covers both. Buses fill the gaps between districts. Shared bikes (Everybike, Kakao Bike) are unlocked by QR code and charged by time. Regular taxis start at ₩4,800 (₩5,800 at night) for the first 1.6 km, then about ₩100 per 135 m.

Areas, not hotels: pick the one that fits your arrival time and plans.
Beomgye (Line 4)
Best for a short stay: Lotte Department Store, New Core Outlet, cinemas and the Pyeongchon 1st Street food and bar strip within a few minutes' walk of Exit 2.
Pyeongchon (Line 4)
Quieter, planned New Town; Pyeongchon Central Park, the library and the academy street. Good for families, thin on nightlife.
Anyang Station (Line 1)
The transport hub: intercity bus terminal opposite, Mugunghwa trains, Lotte Cinema and E-Mart. Practical for one night with bags, less pleasant at street level.

Watch out
Safety
- Anyang is a working city, not a sightseeing town: the sights are spread across three districts and you will spend time on buses and trains between them.
- Summer humidity is high and July–August brings most of the year's rain; the same months are the hottest.
- The intercity bus terminal office does not take credit cards: bring cash or pay in the app.
- Late-night taxi surcharges apply; Kakao Taxi is easier to call than T-map.
