Levoča is a walled Renaissance town on the Spiš heritage circuit, 25 km east of Poprad and 8 km north of the main Košice–Bratislava rail line. Its UNESCO-listed centre is small enough to walk in an afternoon, and St James church holds the tallest wooden altar in the world, carved by Master Paul. Most travellers see it in a day; one night lets you add Mariánska hora and Spiš Castle.

Safety
- The town is very quiet after about 20:30: eat before then or plan a late arrival.
- St James church is a working parish church: entry is by ticket from the shop opposite the main door, cash only, and it closes outside service and tour times.
- Master Paul's House is closed for renovation; the exhibition has moved to the Old Minorite Monastery, 38 Kláštorská Street.
- Some hotels and restaurants close or cut hours off season: confirm before a winter booking.
- The rail station is small with few trains; most arrivals come by bus or via Spišská Nová Ves.
