Martonvásár is a small Fejér County town 30 km southwest of Budapest, best known as the Brunszvik family estate where Beethoven stayed in 1800. The palace, its Beethoven memorial rooms and the protected English garden sit in one compact block, so most visitors see everything in half a day and sleep in Budapest or Székesfehérvár.

Getting around

The town is walkable: station to palace is about 10–12 min on foot. Local buses run under Martongazda; tickets were around 300 Ft in 2020, so treat the fare as a check. Trains from Budapest-Déli (S30/Z30) take about 27 min; from Kőbánya-Kispest (S36/G43) about 49 min.

Safety

A quiet small town; the main risks are thin evening transport back to Budapest and unlit side streets after dark. Standard Hungary advice applies: 112 for emergencies, 10–15% tipping unless a service charge is on the bill.
