Trois-Pistoles is a 3,500-person town on the south shore of the St. Lawrence. It is a ferry terminal for the north shore and a summer base for a French-immersion program that nearly doubles the population. Without the ferry or a language course, plan a short stopover: a church, a small museum, a brewery and a coastal trail. Route 132 and the ferry terminal are outside the core, so without a car use a taxi or arrange a lift (distances check). Orléans Express buses stop at the Petro-Canada on rue Richard, not at the ferry dock.
