Enshi恩施
Give Enshi 3 nights: one full day for the Grand Canyon, one for Daughter Town and the Tusi city, one spare for weather. Skip it if you only have two days in Hubei.
Enshi is a small mountain city in southwest Hubei, the gateway to the Enshi Grand Canyon and the karst country around it. The city itself is a half-day: a Tujia culture town, a rebuilt Tusi palace and a free museum. The reason to come is the canyon, 49 km out, which needs a full day and clear weather. Most travellers arrive by high-speed rail from Wuhan or Chongqing and stay 2–3 nights.

Hong Kong and Macau count as separate regions; check whether your ticket qualifies.
- China ↗Foreign visitors must register their address with the police within 24 hours; hotels do it at check-in with your passport. Carry the original passport at all times: hotels, trains, museums, Tiananmen Square and police checks ask for it.
- China ↗Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with a foreign card before you fly. QR payment is the default in shops, taxis and many stalls, and some places refuse cash or a foreign card. Carry cash as a backup.

Use an eSIM with roaming (it routes through your home network) or install and test a VPN before you fly; VPN sites and app stores are hard to reach inside China, and only government-approved VPNs are officially permitted.

Getting around
City buses run 29 lines, ¥1–2 a ride; buses 6, 11, 22 and the double-decker 4 serve the railway station. Taxis start at ¥5 (¥6 after 23:00) and are the practical way to reach the station or Daughter Town. Shared bikes cover the centre. For the Grand Canyon and other outlying sights you need a tour bus, a chartered car or a long-distance bus from Hangkong Road station.
