The Outer East Bay is the warm, suburban side of the hills east of Oakland: Mount Diablo hiking, Livermore wine roads, and historic house museums. There is no major airport and BART is mostly a link to San Francisco, so come by car for one or two days from the Bay Area, or sleep here cheaply and commute in.
