Overview
Kotor's old town is a walled maze between the sea and a steep hill, with a fortress reached by a long stair. The trips that go wrong are the ones that climb at noon in July, arrive with big suitcases to a car-free old town, or share the lanes with several cruise ships at once. Four clusters cover a first visit: the old town, the fortress trail, the market and shore, and the Dobrota waterfront. Perast and Lovćen are day trips from one kept bed.

TGD to Kotor: a pre-booked car for about 90 minutes over the mountain road — public transport from the airport is thin, so decide the car before you land.
TIV to Kotor: one taxi, about 20–30 minutes — the risk is not the ride but a car-free old town, so agree where the driver stops and who meets you with the key.
