What each season actually feels like
Summer (December–February) is the postcard version: hot, humid days, warm ocean and afternoon storms that usually clear by evening. It is also the most expensive and busiest window, because Australian school holidays run from mid-December to late January and the coast fills with families. Book accommodation and theme-park tickets weeks ahead, and expect traffic on the M1 between Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta.
