Beijing's best-known pedestrian shopping street, with a famous — and famously touristy — night-snack lane off it: an easy evening stop with flat, air-conditioned malls as a heat or rain fallback by day.

A well-known, more polished alternative to a hutong duck shop: leaner-cut roast duck carved table-side, English menu and card payment, but pricier and needs a booking. Good for a first-night duck dinner without hunting a hutong address.
Order: Kao ya (roast duck): One duck typically serves 2–3 people; order it first, as it takes time to roast to order at some restaurants.
